Cardiovascular training is an important part of any workout schedule.  Just make sure you do it right.

90% of cardio work outs are WRONG and here’s a couple of tips for women to enhance the results they get from their cardiovascular training.

  • Don’t overdo running.  Many fitness models actually have a “no running” philosophy, because it sabotages all the weight training.  I would recommend the Elliptical trainer, nordic track and stair master as better substitudes.
  • Ensure the timing of your cardio workout is 25<x<45, meaning that your cardiovascular workout is above 25 minutes but below 45 minutes.  Any more you will “hit the wall” and your results will plateau, meaning more work with no gains!
  • Focus on weight training first, then cardio.  In order to have a great feminine muscle tone, you need to use your cardio workout to supplement your weight training.  The more muscle tone you have, the quicker your body will burn calories!
  • Ensure you don’t train too much.  If you over train, your hunger will also increase! More hunger is more food.  Train for approximately 45 minutes a day.
  • This will take time.  After all they say “Rome Wasn’t Built In a Day” and your body will always be a work in progress.

  • Instead of complaining “Oh, I have to workout”,  replace that mindset with “Yes! I get to work out”.  This will enable you to see working out in a completely different light.
  • Instead of sitting there, get excited that you are nourishing your body by exercising and allowing your body to pump blood and oxygen to your cells.  By exercising, you are giving yourself a gift!  A gift that your body will reward you for when you will look excellent after!
  • Now,  most of my unsuccessful clients want to see immediate results.  They do a program fantastically for a couple of weeks, then they see no improvement so they stop.    This is sabotaging your weight and more importantly, sabotaging your health setting yourself up for nothing but failure
  • This is where you need to develop the MOST important trait when it comes to exercise and weight loss; persistence.
  • Understand that exercise is fore mostly about being persistent is the cornerstone of having success in losing weight.
  • Never Stop! Never Give up, and Never Quit.

After providing enough comedy to make us laugh for weeks in Van Wilder, Ryan Reynolds needed to prepare for his next movie, playing a very different character with a very different body type in Blade Trinity.

Let’s start off by looking at his diet.

1. Water

2. Size of meals

Eating lots of small portions of protein (and less carbs) ensuring there was not a moment during the day in which he was hungry.

3. Breakfast

A couple of eggs (for the protein) and a small amount of oatmel (with something like cinnamon added).  Before lunch, he would also have another mid-morning snack.

4. Lunch

Tuna (more protein) or chicken.  Both of course served with a portion of vegetable or salads.

5. Afternoon Tea

High Protein in a protein shake or protein bar with some fruit.

6. Dinner

More fish or beef (for some variety), brown or basmati rice with vegetables.

7. Before Bed

Before sleeping Reynolds would also have another protein shake.

8.  Evaluation

All in all, the diet used mostly proteins and vegies, with lots and lots of water.  Lots of protein, combined with keeping calories low allowed him to burn off any body fat whilst promoting muscle growth.  Note: there was no cheat day, and it was extremely discipline.  Not having a cheat day is something I wouldn’t typically recommend.

Now, in order to compliment his disciplined diet, here’s an overview of his workout.

1. Mentality

Seek, and you shall find.  It was reported that Ryan was heavily into visualizing, and this was important, as it allowed you to have a path to work towards.  I Always say, “start with having a goal in mind”  In Ryan’s case, he wanted to see himself as a lean dude with huge abs.

2. Workouts

Two or Three hour gym sessions starting off with sit ups, and ensuring that each daily workout focused on one body part, and heavy weights with eight to twelve repetitions.  For example, one day he exercised, arms, legs, chest, back and shoulder.  This is extremely excessive, and it is well known in the fitness world that results can be seen with only 45 minutes in the gym 4-5 times a week.

3. Abs First

.  Ryan said that he always worked the abs first for motivation.  He claimed he could do 500-1000 sit ups at his peak!
